Orcan Energy expands its Kiel site and extends management team

Munich and Kiel, 19.11.2024 – Orcan Energy, the leading cleantech company that converts waste heat into clean electricity, is strengthening its Kiel site. The three managing directors Hinrich Krey, Christian Pätzold and, new to the company, Jens Damian, are taking on the growing global demand for waste heat recovery solutions. The latter brings extensive experience in production and management and will be responsible for scaling up production.

In order to meet the growing global demand for modular solutions for waste heat recovery, Orcan Energy expanded its production capacities at the beginning of the year. The systems are manufactured at the Kiel site and then delivered to customers all over the world. The production facility is an important component of the internationalization strategy to profitably reduce CO2 emissions from industrial processes worldwide.

Jens Damian will strengthen the Kiel site and the management team. The experienced manager with a technical background and over 15 years of international professional experience in the aviation industry has built up operational processes and locations in various management positions and has been responsible for them globally. Jens Damian began his career on the production line at Airbus. He has been responsible for technical operations at the Kiel site since mid-September 2024. Together with Christian Pätzold, he will manage the production facility.

Christian Pätzold has been working for the company as Deputy Commercial Director since the beginning of the year. He will be responsible for all commercial aspects of the Kiel branch of Orcan Energy. Christian Pätzold has more than 30 years of experience. He was previously CFO for the Merck Group in Stockholm, having worked for Merck in Hungary and later in the USA. He also has entrepreneurial experience, having spent eight years building up and then selling his own company. Most recently he worked for the Wella Company in Stockholm.

Orcan Energy's CEO Dr. Andreas Sichert says: “I am looking forward to the close cooperation. Kiel is an important aspect of our ambitious plans to offer our solutions to customers worldwide. With Christian Pätzold, Jens Damian and Hinrich Krey, we have an excellent management team that will drive the growth of the site accordingly and implement it with the great team on site. At a time when the closure of production sites in Germany is being discussed, we are sending out a clear signal. There is a lot to do - let's tackle it.”
